This is a unique project as the new lighthouse has been mainly designed with composite materials. In this particular case, six carbon fibre several-centimetres-thick tubular profiles support a set of fibreglass floors slabs and their bracings, which surround a central tube that leads the stairs to the upper part into the lantern room, all made with composites.
The lighthouse’s one and only traditional thing is the cupola, which was constructed with traditional materials.
AIMPLAS has offered technical assistance to the project managers and has ensured that the building contractor met the quality plan.
