The AMS – Advanced Materials for Sustainability project is up and running: the new Call has been launched by Terna, the company which operates the Italian electricity grid, and Digital Magics EnergyTech, a specialised incubation programme for digital startups in the energy sector.
The energy sector and, in general, the construction of grid infrastructure, is currently undergoing a transformation as radical as it is rapid. In this context, Terna has a strategic and highly important role to play, bolstered by the skills it has acquired in operating the Italian grid, supplying innovative and sustainable energy solutions, and working with ever-increasing efficiency both in terms of its services and its reliability and security.
By putting out this Call, Terna intends to make the most of the opportunities generated by Research into Advanced Materials. In fact, these materials contribute to improving our surroundings, making them not only more efficient and cost-effective, but also healthier and more sustainable in the long term.
In particular, the aim of the Call for Innovation is to identify the best startups and SMEs that can offer solutions and develop projects capable of bringing real innovation to the following fields: coatings, adsorbent materials, environmental integration systems, nanomaterials, additive manufacturing and construction materials.
Ten finalists will be selected from the projects sent by 16 September to the website https://openinnovation.digitalmagics.com/it/challenge/ams-Advanced-Materials-for-Sustainability who will then participate in the final Pitch day on 9 October, presenting their innovations and business models. The finalist presenting the best project will be awarded a prize of € 15,000.
Out of the ten finalists, the ideas found to be most interesting will also have the opportunity to embark on a development and Open Innovation course within Terna’s dedicated Advanced Materials for Sustainability facility.
