Revolution in composite manufacturing

Velocity Composites manufacture advanced carbon fibre and process material kits for use in the production of aircraft. Having used equipment from other suppliers Velocity Composites purchased their first Zund Cutter in 2011 for their aerospace composites kit manufacturing department. Today, the company has a total of twelve Zund G3 Cutters across their Burnley and Fareham state-of-the-art production sites. Read the full article published in June Issue of Compositi Magazine.

Sustainable and thermal insulating composite materials: cements containing recycled textile microfibres

Every year a large amount of textile waste is generated by the fashion sector. Recently this phenomenon has rapidly worsened due to the spread of the “fast fashion” concept, based on a linear economic model and mass consumption. The desire to reduce process environmental impact and the objective to create new business with waste products pushed a consortium’s companies to start a research project in collaboration with the Department of Engineering Enzo Ferrari. Pleko, the athletic shoe in 3D print and Windform SP

CRP Technology has built the supporting structure in a single part: sole, midsole, nails, and ribs. The result is an innovative functional prototype for customization, technologies and materials used. The Windform SP has made it possible to create a special spiked shoe for the track with high elastic properties and resistance to deformation even in thin thicknesses.

CIRCE: an innovative method to recover uncured preimpregned composite scraps

The growing demand of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymers (CFRPs) raises some issues related to the relevant environmental impacts of their manufacturing processes.
