KIO manhole cover in composite material

In 2010 Industrie Polieco-MPB, a solid European group in the sector of polyolefin compounds and high-density polyethylene corrugated pipe systems, decided to proceed with the development of a project for the construction of a manhole cover in composite material. The composite material used for the production of the manhole cover is KinextTM, a composite material reinforced by long fibers duly distributed inside a thermosetting resin matrix.

Agreement between Hexcel and Fairmat based on carbon fiber prepreg composites recycle

The two companies announced an agreement that aims to recycle carbon fiber prepreg from Hexcel European operations and reuse it for composite panels sold into commercial markets. The project will bring back most of the carbon fiber prepreg cuts generated in Hexcel plants in Europe by the end of 2022. In the light of this partnership, Fairmat will rent a former Hexcel plant in Bouguenais (Loire-Atlantique) where it will recycle the cuts generated during the production of prepreg carbon fiber at the European plants of Hexcel.
