Sustainable and thermal insulating composite materials: cements containing recycled textile microfibres

Every year a large amount of textile waste is generated by the fashion sector. Recently this phenomenon has rapidly worsened due to the spread of the “fast fashion” concept, based on a linear economic model and mass consumption. The desire to reduce process environmental impact and the objective to create new business with waste products pushed a consortium’s companies to start a research project in collaboration with the Department of Engineering Enzo Ferrari. A new IMOCA constructed from declassified carbon fiber

Vendée Globe skipper Armel Tripon is collaborating with Airbus Technocentre of Nantes to develop a new IMOCA constructed from declassified carbon fiber and the remains of composite materials. This boat will be introduced in 2023 and could mark the beginning of a new industry to recover composites for Airbus, for nautical purposes.

Carbon Mobile focus on sustainability

Carbon Mobile begins production trials of the world’s first carbon fiber smartphone in Germany. The Carbon 1 MK II is the world’s first carbon fiber smartphone, developed to show the next generation of sustainable, high-performance technologies. The new location for smartphone production is intended to reduce Carbon Mobile’s emissions even further and create additional jobs.

Natural fiber composites for Spark race electric SUVs

Bcomp, Swiss sustainable lightweighting specialist, will provide its natural fiber composite solutions for the nine cars Spark Odyssey all-electric SUVs competing in the inaugural season of the Extreme E Championship. ECOXY Project finally comes to an end: thermoset and sustainable materials for industry

After more than three years of international research, the ECOXY project finally comes to an end. The European project, involving twelve partners from eight different countries, has achieved its goal by finishing the query and development of new thermoset and sustainable materials, made of a plant origin resin and reinforcements of either linen fiber or biobased PLA.

Sicomin GreenPoxy® 33 for Sonntag Custom Carbon Windsurf Fins

Sicomin’s GreenPoxy® 33 bio-based epoxy resin, a clear system formulated especially for compression molding techniques, was used to make carbon fiber windsurf fins. The collaboration with Sonnatg Fins made it possible to create a customized product that combines speed, fatigue performance and sustainability.
